Former Governor Dishes on Connecting Work and College
The Future U. podcast’s Jeff Selingo and Michael Horn discuss the college-to-career pipeline with former Massachusetts governor Jane Swift, who now leads the nonprofit Education at Work. They examine the flexible scheduling, holistic supports, and professional development training today’s students need to integrate work experience into their education. To do this, they consider how Education at Work’s partnerships with employers help learners from low-income backgrounds transition into good jobs that lead to upward mobility. They conclude by exploring the role state and federal policy can play in enabling work-based learning at scale.
