Nevada Higher Ed Agency Joins Schools in Initiative to Smooth Transfer Process

March 24, 2025 1-minute read

The Nevada System of Higher Education announced today that they joined a growing national initiative to simplify the process for students to transfer between colleges.

As part of the Holistic Credit Mobility Acceleration cohort, NSHE will partner with experts to develop policies and practices to streamline the credit transfer process and “strengthen the recognition of learning” from work, military service and other nontraditional experiences, according to a news release.

The agency stated that this move would ease students’ application of previously earned credits to degree completion by ensuring they receive credit for coursework, job training “or other validated learning.”

“Many students in Nevada and across the country face significant challenges when transferring between colleges or seeking credit for past learning experiences,” Natalie Brown, NSHE assistant vice chancellor for Workforce Development and Community Colleges, said in an email. “By participating in this initiative, NSHE will work to improve the credit transfer process and expand the recognition of prior learning, ultimately making it more efficient, transparent, and student-friendly.”
