The primary focus of our philanthropy is funding for research and large-scale initiatives across the nation. We prioritize these seven states: Wisconsin, Minnesota, Ohio, Iowa, Arkansas, North Dakota and South Dakota.
Thank you to everyone who submitted Letters of Interest (LOIs) for our new initiative, “Optimizing Delivery Systems for Higher Education in Prison (HEP): Postsecondary Pathways for Reentry Transition.” We have completed our review of LOIs and are currently accepting full proposals from those invited to submit one. We will make final award decisions at the end of October 2019.
Through this multi-year project, we plan to partner with higher education institutions and state/local corrections departments to redesign HEP delivery systems by refining institutional policies and practices, deepening external partnerships and improving programmatic quality. The goal of this initiative is not to support the growth or development of individual programs. Our aim is to support efforts that can help us—and the field—learn what it takes to build the relationships and infrastructure necessary for the kind of systemic improvement, both academic and operational, that can be replicated and scaled.
