200 Wisconsin Apprentices Receive $300,000 in Scholarships from Great Lakes

Funds Help Cover Cost of Equipment, Tools and Clothing to Keep Apprentices on Path to Completion

Madison, Wis.—Great Lakes Higher Education Corporation & Affiliates is pleased to continue its highly successful Tools of the Trade Apprentice Scholarship program for a fifth year. A record $300,000 in scholarships has been awarded to 200 construction and industrial trades apprentices attending each of the 16 Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) institutions. Each apprentice received $1,500.

Great Lakes Donates $115,000 to 10 Adopted Schools in Local Communities

Employee United Way Contributions Matched Dollar-for-Dollar to Enhance Student Success

Madison, Wis.—Employees of Great Lakes Higher Education Corporation & Affiliates give generously to the communities where they live and work. All year long, they collect school supplies, healthy snacks and books for students at their adopted schools—chosen based on proximity to each Great Lakes office and the level of need. The biggest Great Lakes Gives event is the annual Unite for Our Communities campaign, in which employees make pledges to the United Way or Community Shares of Wisconsin, bid on silent auction items and participate in fun activities like bake sales, games and chili cook-offs.

Great Lakes Grants Put Madison College's New South Campus On Fast Track

$3 Million Donation, $3.5 Million Challenge Grant Help Bring Education Access Where It’s Needed Most

Funding from Great Lakes is helping Madison College expand access to higher education and community supports for residents of the city’s underserved South Side. The college’s new South Campus will be constructed in three phases, originally projected for completion in five years. Madison, Wisconsin-based Great Lakes has pledged two grants totaling up to $6.5 million that will allow Madison College to complete the entire complex in a single year. One of them is a challenge grant that will match $3.5 million raised in the community dollar for dollar.
