Valerie Crespín-Trujillo

Program Officer – Streamline Key Learner Transitions
Partnering with current and potential grantees and other funders to elevate opportunities for learners from low-income backgrounds so they can better achieve their postsecondary education and career goals.

Valerie Crespín-Trujillo is a program officer. Her responsibilities include strategic grantmaking in support of Ascendium’s Streamline Key Learner Transitions focus area, supporting institutions and systems as they work to facilitate transitions between education and career opportunities. In addition, Valerie assists with grantmaking in Ascendium’s Support Rural Postsecondary Education and Workforce Training focus area. She joined the organization in 2022.

Previously, Valerie was an education director with the Wisconsin Technical College System office. She has also held academic positions at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Madison Area Technical College, the University of Wisconsin System Administration, the University of New Mexico and the New Mexico Higher Education Department. Outside of Ascendium, Valerie is an Education Graduate Research Scholar at University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Raised in New Mexico, she earned a Master of Public Policy degree from Pepperdine University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Texas at Austin.
